She would cross to Uganda to buy goods and sell them in Nimule to support her family. She is currently based in Torit, Eastern Equatoria where she focuses on selling fish and vegetables. As a widow, Joska has been able to build a house and support her four children’s education and other needs through her business. Her extensive experience and expertise in the informal sector is a valuable resource to Ma Mara Sakit Village.

She works with small businesses to develop their finances by supporting them in setting up accounts, cost accounting, and managing expenses to enable them to realize profits and grow their businesses. She is an effective manager skilled at building financial systems with expertise in financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and credit control. She often works with senior management to foster team collaboration and reach informed decisions that positively impact the bottom line. Nyamal supports the team as a consultant finance person to establish and implement internal controls, administrative systems, policies, and procedures to ensure that Ma Mara Sakit Village's operational activities are efficient and effective

Her work has taken her to Warsaw, where she wrote about Ukraine’s refugee crisis. She has reported from Kampala, where a local garlic farmer detailed the consequences of China’s dominance in his market. In Kakuma, she heard from young women who worked toward a life beyond a refugee camp. She covered breaking news in Juba when Riek Machar returned to implement the peace agreement. Ayen is a versatile journalist drawn to the power of storytelling as a tool to make people ask questions about the world around them. She believes finding the most distilled version of the truth helps create a more just world.

Kongkong is an economist and a young South Sudanese feminist passionate about women and girls’ rights. In 2022, she was appointed deputy chairperson of the Upper Nile Region Youth Union, where she actively worked to ensure the inclusion of all the youths of the Upper Nile Region. In 2024, she was appointed Deputy Secretary for Information to the South Sudan National Youth Union. Kongkong is a member of the South Sudanese Women Researchers Network with the Rift Valley Institute, where she produced a research paper titled “When Women Sing,” which is about how women use cultural arts and mediums as platforms for communication. She is also an alumnus of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung’s Political Minds Program, a platform that enables her to mentor other younger women in politics. In her economics hat, she works as an internal auditor for Nile Peterolum Corporation and previously worked as a finance officer for Elite Water Company Limited.

Based in Juba, South Sudan, she has built her career on meaningful engagement, whether supporting women researchers, mentoring young girls, or shaping strategies that align with people’s real needs. Vicky holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from the Catholic University of South Sudan. This academic journey sparked her interest in how the private sector can drive sustainable development. Over the years, she has taken on roles that have enabled her to grow as a researcher, then as a project officer, and now as a Human Resource and Business Development Officer with Imatong Employment Solutions. Research has always been close to her heart, and she had the privilege to co-author publications on mental health, social justice, and the power of memory in post-conflict communities. Her work is guided by the belief that real change happens when we listen deeply, lead collaboratively, and invest in people. Outside of work, she is a part of initiatives like 641M, a network of young South Sudanese changemakers committed to peacebuilding and networking across the country. She speaks Acholi, English, and Juba Arabic, and is always open to new collaborations that align with her passion for community resilience and inclusive development.
