We are a Feminist Community Rooted in South Sudan

'Ma'Mara Sakit' is a South Sudanese Arabic phrase that loosely translates to "not just a woman”.

Ma’Mara Sakit Village is a feminist community, legally registered in 2020 as a social enterprise that amplifies voices and creates platforms and opportunities to facilitate processes that advance individual and collective agency through research, art, culture, and multimedia.

Our Mission

To build and sustain feminist communities and infrastructure that enable South Sudanese women and girls to exercise collective agency through storytelling, cultural and economic work, healing justice, and movement-building.
