Gender Talk 211

Gender Talk 211 is a narrative and media practice. The Program exists to create sustained, public platforms where South Sudanese women and girls speak for themselves, openly, critically, and in their own registers of language, culture, and expression. Through research, hosted conversations, dialogues, writing, narrative photography, creative art, and traditional and digital multimedia, Gender Talk 211 documents and amplifies the lived experiences of South Sudanese women and girls across generations, geographies, and social locations. These stories are feminist analysis, political commentary, and cultural knowledge.

At its core, Gender Talk 211 is grounded in the belief that South Sudanese women are experts of their own realities. Their experiences of survival, resistance, care, labor, joy, and imagination are primary knowledge, not supplementary data. The program challenges dominant victimhood narratives and external authorship by supporting women to name their lives, theorize their experiences, and shape how gender, power, and justice are understood in South Sudan and beyond.

Gender Talk 211 also serves as a community-building platform. By convening in-person conversations and connecting across radio and television, social media, and digital spaces, the program brings together South Sudanese women and girls within the country and across the diaspora, fostering collective analysis, solidarity, and a shared political language. Over time, this work contributes to the growth of a living, accessible South Sudanese feminist archive, rooted in women’s voices, histories, and cultural memory. As a practice, Gender Talk 211 is not episodic or campaign-driven; it is an ongoing infrastructure for voice, knowledge production, and narrative power, designed to endure beyond moments, trends, or funding cycles.
